Here's your car. She looks nice! Like the hood latch better then the recessed. Have stripping in mind, here's a pic. May go with a gap in the middle. Stripe will be black with no other color on the edges. Not sure if I'll go as wide as this. Want vents black, but that will depend on how wide the stripe is. With the differences in our cars colors and stripping the same hood will not be very noticeable on each of our cars. Thanks again for helping me out. Replacing a hood is a big step and costly one.

Hey Joey Thanks for taking the time to answer all my concerns and your recomendation on a body shop. I have a body shop in mind in Exeter close to me that actually holds a couple of cruise nights each summer, Scott Wrights. You may want to check out their cruise night this year? Plan on talking to them. See how I feel. I've looked at their work on some classic and late model cars at the cruise nights they hold. Their work appears top notch and some quality people too. Just have to see what my plans will cost me when I talk to them. I'll also keep Prestige in mind and Vivian too. Will ask you later when the time comes for more info about them. I'll have to take a closer look at your hood latch. I want to able to see how and where yours is anchored and take a pic so I'll be able to show the bodyshop what I want. I'm getting the same latch kit from UPR in black. For some reason I thought you had the recessed latch. Been a long winter and I just forgot you went the route we talked about!
  4. ok,
The fit n finish is exceptional. There was about 10 hours of pre time, sand, fill, prime, paint, clear. The overall perception of the body shop was that the hood is of really good quality. Mine does have louvers and I don't have twist lock pins, I used the very setup you showed me with the plates,ss rods and safety pins. I have 600.00 dollars invested in the paint process and make sure whom ever paints the hood uses quality clear not some sheap shit that has yellow tinge to it. I would personaly recomend prestige autobody here in manchester or you could use vivian who used to work for prestige so what she knows has been learned from prestige, so that may save you some money. You have to continue using the hood latch that never stops unless you use a total lift off hood anf that is usualy used in racing applications.

How was the fit and finish? Did it require excessive prep work to avoid small pits in the paint? Does yours have louvers? How well does the twist lock pins fit in the recess? Was worried they might rub the paint within the walls of the recessed channel? Did you order from trufiber directly? What can I expect to pay to paint it? I know my color, redfire, is usually more. I'm a little concerned about replacing a hood have heard lots of horror stories with some hoods. Are hood latches really needed? I may feel better knowing the hoods not going to pop I guess. Thanks for any info you can give me. I'll take a closer look at your hood in a few weeks
  6. Yeah I do have the true fiber gts 3. The strut tower clearence isn't an issue with these hoods and your right about how it gradualy rises from outside edge towards the middle where the gts-2 rises rather quickly. The other difference is in the back towards the windshield where the 2 I believe is straight accross where the 3 curves the shape of the windshield.

found some pics at tru-fiber.com. this is the hood I want! Looks like it has some added clearance on the underside of the hood where the hood meets the strut tower area. Is this the hood you have? Did yours have that same clearance area? I remember Rick mentioning the strut tower area was an issue on his hood. Not sure what type his is? I'll message him also.

here's the link to the pics

Joey I think I found a hood I'm looking for. It's the Tru-Fiber GTS-3. Similiar to the Tru Fiber GT-3 but the GTS-3's edges of the scoops are less angular and blends with the hood more gradually. Saw the same hood on a few sites. Stage3 seemed to have the best price when you include shipping. Have to relocate the windshield spray nozzle to the wipers which I like that idea and keeps hood looking clean. Here's the links to the sites I found. Thanks for your input on this. Will be looking at a set of UPR,black of course, hood pins.

Hey Joey. Four weeks til first cruise night can't wait! Wanted to ask you about your hood. I've always liked it. It looks similiar to cervinis type IV hood but I think yours is different? When I compare your signature photo with cervinis it doesn't look the same. I like yours. What brand and part number is it? How was the fit, finish and install? Any clearance issues with strut tower covers or other parts? I maybe interested in that same hood. Hope you don't mind someone else having same hood at cruise nights? I think our cars have enough differences that the same hood wouldn't be so noticeable. Here's a link to cervinis hood. Let me know more about yours and if it's not this one. If I decide on doing a hood where can I get the best deal?
